MEET THE SUPPLIERS: Maple and Wren
Tell us how you got into the Perth wedding industry?
My background is in event management and communications and I’ve worked in this corporate space for a number of years but I’ve always been a creative person and so when I started doing floristry it really gave me the joy I needed in my daily work. Combine all of those passions and experience and working on wedding flowers and styling became my happy place. I love creating a piece of artistry in my floristry, meeting new clients and working with a variety of suppliers ever week and solving a problem for my brides – bringing their dream wedding vision to life.
What was your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry
My favourite thing about working in the wedding industry is that I get to be a part of so many beautiful love filled occasions, in stunning locations, surrounded by lovely people. Pulling a wedding together is not an easy task, there is an incredible amount of hard work and planning that goes on behind the scenes and that’s my jam. And the outcome, a perfectly styled room, the bouquet our bride carries with her on her final walk into marriage, the hanging installation that greets the guests in all its glory, that’s the heart pounding moment of knowing you’re doing what you love every day. It really is a joy to be a part of those important ceremonies of life. Every wedding we work on is unique in its own way and I love being able to create something that not only my bride’s will love, but that I can be proud of.
How would you describe what your business offers in your own words?
Maple and Wren is a bespoke Perth based floristry and event designer. We love creating beautiful occasions. Oh how we suffer over a mood board! Selecting flowers and furniture, arranging an oversized bouquet and writing a creative brief for the perfect stationery and signage. When we work with a bride and groom from the very beginning we become a part of the fabric of their wedding day. A tiny silk thread that runs over the whole production implementing the style of our bride and groom.
What is the one thing that your business is most proud of?
Maple and Wren is a small business in Perth and we are extremely proud of the success we have created so far from our tiny scale as a business. We are exceptionally passionate about supporting local businesses and causes in WA and always choose collaboration over competition in this gorgeous industry. It fills our small business hearts with joy when we can create something for our brides to adore on their wedding day.
What is one piece of advice you would offer a bride to make their wedding day extra special?
Oh can I give two? Both of them incredibly practical but they make all the difference to the experience of a wedding day.
Have a pair of back up shoes – standing all day in those spectacular shoes is tough work! Have someone hide a spare pair, perhaps a few inches lower at the reception to save your tired feet.
There WILL be things on the day that will not go to the ‘ultimate perfect wedding plan’. But remember, the joy of the day is that you are marrying your most favourite human in the world. And that’s absolutely extra special!
What is it about your product/service that sets you apart from your competition?
At Maple and Wren our creativity, enthusiasm and attention to detail combine to offer an exceptional service to our clients. Every wedding we work on is completely different. In whatever capacity we are contracted in (floristry or event styling and management) we always bring our skills and knowledge of the industry to assist our brides in realising their vision for their special day.
Our style is one unstructured, cascading with flair to help you make an impact in a floral way. We love what we do and we bring that energy into every wedding we work on.
