Hello! Hello! Hello!
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Shannon O’Connor, I run Streamline Entertainment, and we are your Perth wedding DJs (Oh sweeeet, good times!)
To give you the low down on all things Streamline, we have to start way back with young pimple faced Shann, when he was first getting into the art of playing the untz untz party jams.
I’ve been behind the decks for close to 10 years now and have played for every age, genre and style of party known to man. My passion for entertaining a crowd began fresh out of high school with house parties. Every weekend I would setup and play an 18th birthday on Friday and Saturday night. This led to regular club bookings (Who remembers Sneaky in Northbridge or Cheek in Subi?) and festival appearances (shoutout to Future Music, Stereosonic, Southbound and the only surviving member, Groovin’ the Moo!). This was not at all something I thought I’d be doing for a living, just a little fun on the side while I studied sound and radio broadcasting to get me closer to my goal of being a breakfast host on commercial radio.
In 2015, I finished my degree but instead of looking for a job in the field of radio, I, like most freshly graduated kids, buggered off to Europe for 6 months. I locked in a tasty 4 month DJ residency on the Greek party island of Ios where I played for 5 hours every night to drunken tour groups and party people (that’s 100 nights in a row…)
I liked skipping the Australian winter to indulge in the European summer so much so that I actually went back and played in Europe for the next 3 years, adding a new country to my list of DJ highlights each year. A month in Malta, a corporate event in Hungary, a custom Contiki tour from Greece to Budapest with shows in Croatia and Albania. I even stretched over to the other continents with shows in Fiji, New Zealand, USA, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India and The Philippines.
Some of those shows were actually insane now that I look back on them!
– 7,000 Indians going crazing in the pouring rain at a music festival in Bangalore.
– 8,000 Filipinos joining in on one of the biggest mannequin challenges of all time.
– 20,000 Malaysians screaming back at me when I said “how ya goin?” in their native language.
– 2,000 Uni students rocking out on a Thursday night at a bass event in Los Angeles.
– 68,000 people Australia-wide dressed up in Oktoberfest gear every year for Oktoberfest in the Gardens Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney (All screaming “heeeey, hey baby, ooo, ahhh”).
– 4,000 people counting in the new year at Ice Cream Factory.
– 30,000 people running across the start line at the HBF Run for a Reason.
I got into a nice little groove of playing around the world for 4-6 months of the year and then bringing it back to Perth for the summer. I was contracting out a bunch of DJ work to other Perth DJs throughout this period of my life, as I obviously wasn’t in Perth year round.
In 2016 I landed myself a job at Southern Cross Austereo (The company that owns Hit92.9 and Mix94.5) where I was hoping to work up the ranks and achieve my OG goal of getting on air. It was after about a year in the radio industry that I realised my passion for entertaining a crowd could not be in a closed off room with a microphone; I needed to be in front of the people.
It was time to turn my traveling hobby of DJing into a full time gig, but not by doing more of the same. I needed to make some changes; take on less 4am DJ sets in dark nightclubs or 10 hour bender sets on a party island. It was time to look at the next thing which would fuel my passion for entertainment.
After playing countless hours at thousands of parties around the world, making intoxicated punters dance didn’t quite give me the same sense of satisfaction as it use to. I had only done a few weddings by this point, but I was beginning to realise that using my skills to make a couples wedding day the most amazing it could possibly be was far more rewarding.
That’s when I founded Streamline Entertainment, a company that specialises in providing couples with high energy, top quality, versatile Perth DJs who are regulars in the club and bar scene. Our ethos is to provide couples with a Perth DJ who understands every crowd and plays with a modern and energetic approach, ensuring their wedding is one to remember (and for the right reasons!).
I already had a number of professional DJs working under me that I trusted, so it seemed like the logical step forward. We had worked a wide range of events including corporate functions, regular bar gigs, school balls and private functions in the past, however one of our main focuses moving forward was to become the best Perth wedding DJs.
Since breaking into the Perth wedding scene a few years back, my team and I have been able to apply our knowledge and skill of DJing to the wedding market, which has led to booked out weekends for 3 years in a row.
At first it was just myself doing the weddings, however some of my regular private event hire DJs – a crew that I had a lot of trust in – expressed their interest in getting involved more seriously in the wedding scene. Our wedding DJ team grew to 4. That way if I’m unavailable, clients are still in the hands of a hire DJ I trust, someone who will uphold the premium nature of our Perth DJ service.
We also limit ourselves to the number of weddings we book each year, to ensure each and every couple is given the same amount of attention and prep work required to make sure the music, vibe and setup is exactly what they’re after.
We meet with our couples before the big day to chat through every single detail to ensure there are no hiccups. From the bridal entrance to speech introduction songs, first dance to the throwing of the bouquet, it’s your wedding, let’s do what you want! Have a list of 30 must play songs? Don’t want a certain song? Want to entertain both your friends and the oldies? No problems!
With years of experience, we know what works well at weddings so pick our brains, ask us questions and let us help you to have the best night of your life.
We also offer MC services, something we enjoy doing, however we do find that having a friend or family member (with a bit too much confidence) on the microphone, makes for a more intimate and personal flow of formalities.
We pride ourselves on a high quality and neat DJ setup which is why we offer the best audio gear; a wireless microphone along with backup mixers, speakers and microphones to ensure there are no hiccups on game day. We also offer wash lighting setups, perfect for adding to your wedding venue’s atmosphere, along with party lighting to get the dance floor going.
We have four Perth wedding DJs available for hire and supply to all areas of the WA South West, whether it’s a sit down wedding in Margaret River or a cocktail wedding in Perth City.
